Abstract

The author identifies Boucher's La belle cuisinière as once in the collection of the London-based Huguenot, Roger Harenc (d.1763), and then in the collection of Thomas Bromley, Lord Montfort (1732-99). The article includes a list of the twenty paintings attributed to French painters in the catalogue of Harenc's posthumous sale of 1764.
