Abstract
This research focuses attention on the Italian province of Alessandria, using it as a case study of howthe Holocaust is remembered in one part of the country. Selecting various contexts in which this memory culture can be analysed, the thesis not only discusses the nature of remembrance within these contexts but also examines the national and international themes and symbols present, as well as narratives pertaining to Italy’s involvement in the Shoah.
