Abstract

This thesis investigates green water loads on topside structures of FPSO facilities in harsh ocean environments. Utilizing shallow water equations, CFD, and experimental methods, the study delves into the interaction between green water and topside structures. Key factors like vessel motion, structure configuration, and overtopping event types were comprehensively analyzed. The research offers novel insights into the fluid-structure interaction and empirical formulas for force prediction, contributing significantly to marine hydrodynamics knowledge and informing the design of FPSO topside structures
