Abstract

The author has studied a limited number of cases of Helicobacter, about 8000 gastric biopsy specimens, over 20 years. The author has studied these cases in detail, with follow-up of 10 years in some cases. For much of this work, the author developed quantitative methods, particularly for the study of the antibacterial treatment of duodenal ulcers.10, 15 This article discusses the range of changes seen in these biopsy specimens, the effect of treatment, and the relation of this work to that of other authors.
