Abstract

This study compared the secretion of LH during the oestrous cycle of Merino ewes consistently having one or two ovulations. Ewes with two corpora lutea released more pulses of LH but produced less progesterone during Days 2-12 of the oestrous cycle than ewes with one corpus luteurn. There were no differences at other times of the cycle. Neither the mean concentration of LH nor the mean amplitude of pulses of LH varied with the number of ovulations.
