Abstract

The paper presents results from field tests involving under-pressure installation and over-pressure extraction of a suction caisson in a deposit comprising a soft clay layer overlying a medium dense sand. The results are back analysed using numerical techniques to gain insights into installation resistance and into the failure mechanisms associated with caisson extraction using over-pressure
