Abstract

This thesis investigates the state of the art of laser land levellers, i.e., its impacts and factors influencing the adoption of LLL in the Indo-Gangetic Plains of India. Specifically, it explores the productivity effect of LLL adoption and factors influencing its dynamic adoption process, along with the degree of technical inefficiency among farmers and the shadow price of irrigation water. This study generates empirical evidence to inform what factors should be focused on to increase adoption and the impact of LLL adoption at the farm level and minimize excessive groundwater use.
