Abstract
© 2015 AIP Publishing LLC. We study the quality of piecewise-Lagrange interpolation for non-parametric data based on ε-uniform samplings and different forms of exponential parameterization. Surprisingly, it turns out that there is a sharp discontinuity in the quality of interpolation: exponential parameterization performs no better than a blind uniform guess, except for the case of scaled cumulative chord, which matches parametric interpolation.
