Abstract
Through support from Lotterywest, St Patrick’s have sought to trial and evaluate a new way of supporting people seeking ER. In May 2020, St Patrick’s began a 7-month pilot of a Case Managed Emergency Relief program. In this program, people presenting for ER support were provided with the chance to meet with a case manager. Together, over one or more sessions, the client and case manager worked through, in a supported way, several of the most urgent challenges that were contributing to the client’s need for ER. St Patrick’s engaged the Centre for Social Impact at the University of Western Australia (CSI UWA) to:
- co-develop a tool that can support the case management process, and that can capture client outcomes, and
- evaluate the model, to understand how, how well, and why the program worked.
The evaluation findings of this trial are presented in this report.
