Abstract

This dissertation inquiries into the interconnection between energy and macroeconomic variables by applying non-linear time varying econometric approaches. The first core chapter examines the responsiveness of renewable energy production to fluctuations in geopolitical risks, oil prices and economic policy uncertainty for US economy. The second core chapter evaluates the efficacy of environmental policies in promoting renewable energy production for a panel data of 24 OECD economies. The third core chapter investigates how uncertainties in US climate policies can transmit risks to global green financial instruments in the long run applying recently devised index of climate policy uncertainty.
