Abstract
This thesis contributes to our understanding of the concept of an Error Management Climate (EMC), by examining how individual perceptions and organisational aspects interactively relate to the management of errors. An overall model of EMC is introduced, comprising an EMC definition, EMC dimensions, and individual and organisational antecedents of an EMC. A psychometrically sound measure of an EMC is then developed. Finally, two empirical studies using standard and moderated regression analyses are employed to understand which individual and organisational factors predict employees` attitudes towards errors, communication and reporting of errors, and learning from errors.
