Abstract

Based on longitudinal data from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) and using advanced econometric techniques; this dissertation seeks to advance our understanding of how entrepreneurial careers impact the well-being of entrepreneurs and their partners. It extends the Triadic Model of Entrepreneurial Action and Health, by introducing resources (e.g. social support, time) as a central concept to mediate the negative impacts of the entrepreneurial journey and increase feelings of satisfaction and well-being among entrepreneurs and their spouses. The thesis also demonstrates the importance of managing these resources to avoid resource depletion at the individual and couple levels.
