Abstract

Healthcare professionals have traditionally been told not to become emotionally involved with clients. Dawn Freshwater believes this is unrealistic and that these relationships could benefit if more emphasis was placed on developing emotionally intelligent educational programmes

The term emotional intelligence (El) is now widely used in psychology, counselling, educational literature and, more recently, in management and leadership.
