Abstract

1. 1. The sulphydryl protective agent dithiothreitol affects kinetics of the enzyme phosphoglycerate kinase from humans, rabbits and quokkas, by increasing Vmax and by lowering the Michaelis-Menten constant for the substrate 3-phosphoglycerate. 2. 2. This effect was not seen with phosphoglycerate kinase from chicken, toad or yeast. 3. 3. Dithiothreitol did not influence kinetics with respect to the substrate MgATP2-.
