Abstract

This thesis describes the development of palladium catalysed domino reactions to form 3-benzazepines and isoquinolines; a unique carbopallidation-carbonylative-annulation reaction to give anthra-2-pyranones and the total synthesis of the natural product (±)BE-26554A via a unique beta-keto-sulfoxide-aldehyde-annulation domino reaction as the key synthetic step. A series of cancer growth inhibiting analogues were also synthesed. N-Heterocycles and Total Synthesis of the Antitumor Anthraquionone Natural Product (±)BE-26554A
