Abstract
This paper discusses two of Louis Andriessen's two works for large wind orchestra. The first, Symfonieen der Nederlanden (1974) and the more recent Signs and Symbols (2016). The article discusses Andriessen's major stylistic traits, and how they manifest in these two compositions. Discussions with Andriessen regarding the more recent of the two works is also included.
