Abstract

In this article, a differential evolution based IMC-PID approach is introduced for load frequency control of two area power systems using inner and outer loop controllers. The predictive model of the inner loop is obtained through Routh approximation, and the differential evolution deduces the parameters of IMC- PID outer loop controller. A two-area non-reheated thermal power system with 50% parametric uncertainties is considered for validation of the proposed approach. It is observed from the results that the proposed method gives better performance than several existing techniques.
