Abstract

The study scrutinizes the capacity of Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, and Sakhr in dealing with translation between English and Arabic in a large corpus taken from various domains, UN, WHO, Petra Journalistic Texts, Arab League, The Prophet and The Old Man and The Sea. The study evaluates the output of the three systems using holistic analysis and error analysis of the entire text translation and collocations as a special case of error analysis. The findings of the study provided important feedback about the capabilities of the three systems with respect to English-Arabic translation and paves the way for further research on such an important topic.
