Abstract

The research aims to study the existing urban green spaces from different aspects (historical development, ecosystem services, stakeholders’ perceptions, historical development, typologies and ecological design approach). The research reveals a series of constraints and challenges related to the design and management of urban green spaces such as limited budgets, insufficient knowledge and expertise of green space managers, low public awareness, challenging climate conditions, and inadequate policy support. In response, this study revealed the necessity of adapting to climate change and prioritising natural based solution approaches to preserve and enhance ecosystem services of urban green spaces.
