Abstract
Performers often come to the E-flat clarinet when they are given one and told to play it. The instrument can be a difficult instrument to navigate without pedagogical approaches dedicated to the fundamentals. The aim of this project is the development of an effective pedagogical approach to learning to play the instrument. E-flat intricacies have been investigated through semi-structured interviews with performer-educators. These interviews served as a tool, delving into critical aspects of technique; intonation, voicing, open fingerings, blending, and articulation. Additionally, a series of exercises and instructional cues have been designed to assist E-flat students in developing proficiency.
