Abstract

Academic library staff are actively engaged in shaping learning experiences. Be it in designing and delivering training or assisting patrons one on one, academic library staff are not just providers of information and information sources. Rather, they regularly go beyond to take on an educator or learning facilitator role. In taking on that role very effectively, it is highly important for academic library staff to understand how to design learning. It is critical for them to attend all components of learning design and have the knowledge and tools to go from gaining an in-depth understanding of students’ learning needs, to designing and developing effective content, to delivering that content in an engaging way, to evaluating student experience of their journey to improve the whole learning journey.
