Abstract
Recovery is a key theme in mental health care in the UK. It encompasses a variety of approaches to services, including exploration of the patient's own narrative of recovery from illness and moving on to a non-patient identity. This process may be complicated for forensic patients, for whom moving on means leaving a type of <security>; and who may not be allowed to move on from an offender identity. In this paper, we present material from a group for men leaving high secure hospital care in the UK that indicates some of the complexities of recovery in forensic services
