Abstract

Age estimation in adults still remains a challenge in forensic science. To overcome this issue, different radiologically-based methods have been proposed, based on the narrowing of the tooth root canal with age. These methods demand certain inclusion criteria, such as a sample encompassed by individuals from the same ethnicity, and all with totally sound teeth. This thesis emerges as a challenge to these requirements, and as an answer to adapt and test some of the available methods in individuals with different tooth conditions and from diverse ethnicities. Being this, the scenario that is normally faced in a real forensic context.
