Abstract
Presentation of research.
The ‘Planetry Festival’ of September 1719 celebrated the marriage of the son of the Saxon Elector and King of Poland August the Strong and the daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph I. Study of drawings and music manuscripts from this event illuminates the complex and large group of bass instruments in the Saxon Hofkapelle used to play the lowermost line of the musical score labelled 'basso'.
