Abstract

This multidisciplinary study investigates contemporary rammed earth construction and materials, integrating architectural and engineering perspectives. This study explores rammed earth construction mainly in Western Australia; and it addresses critical questions in international research in rammed earth construction and materials. Contemporary rammed earth constructions have relevant architectural, technical and sustainability credentials, which may make them highly competitive in the Western Australian construction sector as it moves toward low carbon development, and potentially in the international scenario under specific environmental conditions.
