Conflict in the Sahel: The elephant in the room

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationArticle

Abstract

Conflict in Africa is “the elephant in the room”, few in our industry willing to speak of it in public. In Perth, on 30 August 2018, the ADU conference organisers took the plunge and a panel exposed differing approaches to this scourge in the Sahel; from an Australian corporate, a UN military-political, a social-economic, socio-religious as well as an African government viewpoint. Economic development and youth employment are key to peace, and Australian politicians can do a lot more to help, as it will also benefit Australia.
