Abstract
Trimethoprim is a common drug used in treatment of urinary tract infections (UTI) and is recommended by the therapeutic guidelines used by many doctors across Australia. It has a tolerable side-effect profile. This case illustrates a rarely seen side-effect of the medication which doctors should be cognisant of when incidentally detecting a change in electrolyte and renal function profile in patients being treated with trimethoprim.
