Abstract
Innovative approaches are needed to help local planning achieve strategic objectives for increased infill housing to transition toward a more compact and sustainable city. This is particularly the case in areas which often resist this change. One such approach is to develop policy in conjunction with the community’s wishes and needs, what we might term citizen-led development rather than the conventional deliver and defend method focused on achieving higher densities. This article discusses the unique tools currently under development at AUDRC to help this process.
