Abstract

Scale model tests in a geotechnical centrifuge were back analysed using numerical techniques to examine the ability of particular numerical techniques to provide predictions of suction caisson settlement in a two layer soil system. The good agreement achieved lends credibility to the numerical modelling approaches and their applicability for the prediction of suction caisson displacements under static compression and cyclic loading in other layered soil conditions
