Abstract

This article explores an academic initiative focusing on the expansive influence of China in the global arena, particularly from Western Australian perspectives. Supported by the Asian Studies Association of Australia, the project convenes Early and Mid-Career Researchers (EMCRs) to engage in a series of events aimed at fostering innovative research into global China's multifaceted interactions. The inaugural event, "Grounding Global China in the Indo-Pacific: Western Australian Perspectives," facilitated a rich exchange of ideas, challenging traditional academic boundaries and advocating for an interdisciplinary approach to understanding China's historical and contemporary dynamics.
