Research output: Book/ReportOther outputpeer-review

Abstract

This mapping envisions how new protected areas can be defined and created in the south west forests Beyond 2024. This process has been conducted in consultation with Traditional Owners, community groups and scientists. This mapping captures the current state of protection in the south west forests, woodlands and associated ecosystems. From the existing formal conservation network; to the previously proposed but not yet formalised protected areas; to an ambition for future protected areas Beyond 2024. These proposals for future protected areas Beyond 2024 have been defined by layering dozens of conservation values and criteria in the south west forests, drawn from an array of geospatial datasets. These layers have been synthesised, through consultation, to encompass cultural, recreational and community values.
