Abstract

This thesis by publication contributes to scholarship on youth transnational mobilities and transitions to adulthood. It takes the case of the lived experience of young Italians moving to and from Australia and draws on fine grained qualitative data with 36 participants (via ethnographic interviews and visual research techniques). It argues for a Mediterranean model of youth mobile transitions and outcomes of transnational mobility in pre-pandemic and pandemic times. This dissertation includes three parts. Part 1: introduction, background, literature review and methodology; Part 2: three journal articles and a book chapter; Part 3: two analysis chapters and the conclusion.
