Abstract
Barley stripe mosaic virus was detected using enzymelinked immunosorbent assay in the Western Australian barley germplasm collection in accessions originally introduced from Mexico, New Zealand and USA. The virus was also intercepted in one accession introduced from Japan into post-entry quarantine in the Australian Capital Territory. The extent to which the virus occurs in Australian cereal germplasm collections and in the field warrants further investigation.
