Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine changes in athlete's reports of burnout relative to changes in an indicator of immune function (IgA). Five purposefully selected professional New Zealand rugby union players were studied and yielded mixed results. Based on the current study, burnout may have to reach a threshold before associated changes in immune function are observed. Individual differences and other variables may strongly influence the relationship between immune function and burnout.
