Armed by a Story: Australian history and historical justification for the war on terror

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The article focuses on the justifications of the Australian history since September 11, 2001 for the war on terror. Some Commonwealth Government members are willing to use the history to justify contemporary actions. The purpose of history is to open the minds of young Australians to new interpretations by subjecting accepted explanations to reasoned scrutiny. Senior Liberal Bronwyn Bishop states that young Australians should study the past to understand the present and to make informed decisions in the future.
