Abstract

This paper presents a model reduction method for commensurate fractional-order systems (CFOS) using colliding bodies optimization algorithm (CBOA). The proposed method converts the original CFOS into an integer-order model and applies the CBOA with stability equations to determine the approximant. The proposed method ensures the stability of the reduced-order approximants if the original CFOS is stable. A numerical example is shown to establish the efficacy of the proposed method over existing techniques.
