Abstract
This paper reports the effect of aging on the transformation behavior of a NiTiNb alloy. After aging, the NiTiNb alloy exhibited an incomplete A → R transformation followed by two separate transformations to the B19ʹ martensite, i.e., an A → M transformation and an R → M transformation. Such transformation behavior is ascribed to the composition variation between Ni4Ti3 precipitates. The composition variation is caused by the inhibition effect of Nb on Ni diffusion in Ni4Ti3 formation during aging.
