Abstract
A survey is presented of the case histories of 112 patients admitted to the St. Elisabeth Hospital of Curacao for acetic acid intoxication during the 4-year period 1977-1980. The clinical symptoms, laboratory findings and complications are described. The results are compared with those of a similar study in Surinam. The authors advocate that sale of the 80% solution of acetic acid should be prohibited in Curacao.
