    Abstract

In this paper, we present some new results on a frequency weighted balanced truncation technique based on well-known partial-fraction-expansion idea. The reduced order models which are guaranteed to be stable in case of double-sided weighting are obtained by direct truncation. Two sets of simple, elegant and easily computable a priori error bounds are also derived. Relationships between the proposed method and the previous methods based on partial-fraction idea are also derived. The technique is illustrated using a numerical example of a practical application and then compared with other well-known techniques, to show the effectiveness of the method. © 2013 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
