Abstract

INTRODUCTION
Supercomputing centers exist to drive scientific discovery by supporting researchers in computational science and data analysis fields. To make users more productive in the complex HPC environment, HPC centers employ user support teams. These teams serve many roles, from setting up accounts, to consulting on math libraries and code optimization, to managing HPC software stacks. Often, support teams struggle to adequately support
scientists. HPC environments are extremely complex, and combined with the complexity of multi-user installations, exotic hardware, and maintaining research software, supporting HPC users can be extremely demanding. With the tenth HUST workshop, we have strived to provide an engaging forum for system administrators, user support team members, tool developers, policy makers and end users. We provide the community the opportunity to discuss support issues and tools and a publication venue for current support
developments. Best practices, user support tools, and any ideas to streamline user support at supercomputing centers are in scope.

We are happy to share the program from our 10th Annual Workshop on HPC User Support Tools held in conjunction with the International Conference on High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC23), on Sunday, November 12, 2023 in Denver, Colorado, USA. The workshop received eight full paper submissions and eight short paper submission out of which we accepted a total of eleven papers. During the review process, each paper was reviewed by at least four members of our program committee. We thank the authors for providing terrific content for HUST 2023, the program committee for their thoughtful reviews and all of the attendees for letting us know these topics are important to you. The HUST 2023 workshop was again a great venue for HPC User Support professionals to exchange new ideas and best practices. We look forward to continuing this dialog at our 11th workshop in 2024.
