Abstract
a view to the relationship between sport and society, body and nature, it is interesting to analyse two novels, Requins et coquins by Herve Claude and Surfeuses Paradise by Pierre Grundmann which take Australia for their background. By means of surfing, golf or cricket, and in the first instance, they scratch certain myths at the heart of the Australian imagination. But, in the second instance, they scratch further to tell us of the disintegration of sporting values, all the more worrying that it has reached even Australia, country of all the myths.
