Biography
Yuriy is a naval architect, CEng, MRINA - independent consultant with more than 30 years’ experience in offshore, shipping industries, consultancy and research. He graduated from the Institute of Maritime Engineers in Odessa in 1986, and received his PhD after 9 years of work as a salvage and consulting engineer. For a number of years Yuriy was involved in ship emergency response and from 1996 worked as a technical director of a shipping company in Ukraine. From 2001, he has been working in Australian offshore industry, including 13 years with a floating systems business of INTECSEA / Worley, and from 2018 - as independent consultant NavTec Pty Ltd. His experience includes design and analysis of floating installations, mooring systems, and marine operations. Yuriy acted as a lead engineer, engineering manager, study manager and technical advisor on multiple projects, contributed to development of response-based analysis methods. For several years, Yuriy was an Adjunct Professor at Australian Maritime College, supervised PhD candidates and authored several publications.
