Yanyan is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the UWA School of Agriculture and Environment, specialising in applied, policy-focused environmental economics. Her research primarily uses survey-based methods, non-market valuation, and benefit–cost analysis. Driven by a strong interest in marine environments and marine wildlife, her work aims to inform policy and practical strategies that balance tourism development with marine environmental conservation.
She holds a PhD in Environmental and Resource Economics from UWA. Her doctoral research focused on sustainable tourism and marine environmental conservation, examining pathways to promoting tourists’ pro-environmental behaviours to protect marine environments in Pacific Island contexts.
Her research focuses on sustainable tourism, marine environmental conservation, and biosecurity, with an emphasis on policy-relevant economic analysis.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
