Personal profile

Biography

Dr. Xuehua Jin is a Research Associate in the Geddes Hartmann Human Lactation Research Group at the School of Molecular Sciences, The University of Western Australia. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Food Science and Engineering from China Agricultural University. Her growing interest in maternal and infant health, particularly the role of early-life nutrition, led her to pursue a PhD in human lactation, which she completed in 2026 with research investigating maternal factors and milk composition associated with low milk production.

Her current research extends this work through the application of transcriptomic and exposomic approaches to better understand the biological and environmental determinants of milk production and infant exposure through human milk. She also has a strong interest in biomarker discovery and the application of advanced statistical and machine learning methods to lactation research, with the goal of enabling earlier identification and timely intervention for low milk production and ultimately improving breastfeeding support and outcomes for mothers and infants.
