Biography

Victorien Paumard is currently a Research Fellow at the Centre for Energy Geoscience, University of Western Australia, specializing on the characterization of siliciclastic and carbonate systems using seismic stratigraphy and seismic geomorphology. He graduated with a BSc in Geology and a MSc in Petroleum Geology from the UniLaSalle University in France; and with a PhD in Basin Analysis and Seismic Stratigraphy from the University of Western Australia. His MSc research (supported by Total E&P) focused on the seismic stratigraphy of Oligocene-Miocene carbonate platforms (Myanmar); and his PhD research (supported by Chevron) focused on the quantitative characterization of sediment transfer across shelf margins using 3D seismic data (North West Shelf, Australia). He is now a principal investigator and co-investigator for the Quantitative Seismic Stratigraphy (QSS) and Reservoir Analogue (RA) research consortiums at UWA, respectively. His research interests are focused on the development of quantitative methods to build 3D seismic and sequence stratigraphic frameworks to better understand the controls on the architecture of sedimentary margins and reservoir development. He is also interested in the application of the principles of seismic geomorphology to characterize the seafloor of the North West Shelf of Australia and rebuild submerged paleolandscapes. Victorien is a member of AAPG, ASEG, ASF, GSA (America), GSA (Australia), IAS, PESA and SEPM.
