Biography
Dr. Vicky Johnstone is an experienced research administrator with over 15 years of experience spanning both scientific discovery and strategic leadership. With a PhD from the Australian National University (2011) and undergraduate training from The University of Western Australia (2007), she built her expertise in neuroscience and cardiovascular science through research positions at various national and international laboratories including Columbia University Medical Center in New York and Monash University in Victoria.
Roles and responsibilities
As Associate Director of Research Enterprise at The University of Western Australia, Vicky now leverages her scientific expertise to drive institutional research excellence. She leads strategic initiatives to expand and diversify the university's research funding portfolio while fostering high-impact partnerships with industry, government, and academic collaborators. Working at the intersection of innovation and organisational strategy, Vicky's team supports major competitive grant applications, cultivates research partnerships, and provides strategic oversight and comprehensive support for UWA's research infrastructure, ensuring these critical resources align with institutional priorities and maximise research capabilities.
