Ulysse Lebrec is a Research Fellow of the Shell Chair in Offshore Engineering at the Ocean Graduate School. His research focuses on the characterisation of the seabed and Quaternary geology in tropical environments, through the acquisition and integration of bathymetry, seismic and geotechnical data. Currently, Ulysse is investigating sedimentary processes controlling the distribution and variability of carbonate sediments, and how their understanding can be used to develop predictive ground models to support the development of offshore wind foundation systems.
More largely, Ulysse is involved in the development of new techniques to image, map and classify the seabed and collaborates with international teams to better understand how palaeo landscapes and palaeo sea levels shaped modern marine environments. In addition to offshore engineering, this research supports the study of marine biodiversity and past human migration routes as well as the evolution of coral reefs through time.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
