Personal profile


Tom Schnepple is an experienced R&D professional, responsible for commercialising UWA’s engineering and physical science IP through licensing opportunities, start-up’s and joint ventures. From 2009-2012 Tom taught the unit “New Product Development and Commercialisation” through the UWA Business School as part of the bachelor of commerce degree.
He has a BE (Hons) in Electronic Engineering from Curtin University and an MBA (majoring in technology commercialisation) from UWA. Tom worked for many years at Orbital Engine Company developing engine control hardware and software solutions for Orbital’s patented direct injection technology that has gone into production on outboard engines, jet skis and motor scooters in the USA, Europe, Japan and Taiwan.
Later on he worked on a videodermoscope that analyses skin lesions for cancer using artificial intelligence at Visiomed AG in Germany, and on a novel in-situ pipe rehabilitation technology using composite materials at Vortex Pipes Ltd.
Tom joined UWA in 2009.
