Biography

Dr Vujosevic earned her Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture degrees from Yale University and her PhD in the History and Theory of Architecture from MIT. She lived and taught on three continents - Europe, the United States and Australia. Before coming to the UWA School of Design she taught at Yale, MIT, and the University of Virginia. Tijana does a-disciplinary research in the history and theory of the built environment, spanning issues in architecture, social history, art, literary studies and cultural geography, focusing primarily on socialist interpretations of architecture, nature, and the environment. Her first book on the Russian 1920s and the 1930s, 'Modernism and the Making of the Soviet New Man' has been come out in 2017 with Manchester University Press. She has won the prestigious University of Strasbourg Institute of Advanced Study Fellowship for 2018-2020, to aid research on the project 'Communism, Internationalism, Nature: A Cold War History of Environmental Representation'.
