Biography

Thuy Rosie Pham is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Western Australia (Group of Eight). She loves working with big data to generate managerial insights across different contexts, e.g., technology, finance, healthcare, and retail.

In her research, she uses R/Python programming to collect (web scraping/APIs) and analyze unstructured data (text, image, video), field or controlled experiments, and statistical methods for consumer research.

She holds a PhD in Marketing from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in July 2022. Her thesis has been awarded the Faculty of Business and Law Executive Dean's Commendation for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis for 2022. Her work has been published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology (ABDC: A*, Scimago: Q1, listed among the 50 most influential business journals by Financial Times – FT50), Psychology & Marketing (ABDC: A, Scimago: Q1), and others.

Before joining UWA, she worked at the University of Queensland and CSIRO - Australia’s National Science Agency. She's also a visiting scholar at Columbia Business School in New York.

She is an experienced Unit Coordinator and Lecturer in Marketing Analytics courses, including:
• Big Data in Marketing using R programming (MKTG5504, postgraduate, 300+ students) at UWA
• Search Engine Marketing (MKTG5506, postgraduate, 300+ students) at UWA
• Deep Learning for Business using R programming (BSAN3212, undergraduate, 120+ students) at UQ
• Strategic Advertising Management (ADVT7506, postgraduate, 200+ students) at UQ

She was awarded the Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). She previously instructed R and Python workshops at the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation (QCIF).

She brings over ten years of industry experience into her teaching and research. She worked in Strategic Brand Management at multinational corporations, including RACQ Bank, Perfetti Van Melle (Mentos), Samsung Electronics, and Wilmar International.

Thùy was born and grew up in Vietnam and is now a Permanent Resident (PR) of Australia. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition.
